Reverend Kathryn Eagles

It took a lifetime for God to shape Kathy and her husband, Loren, for their eventual call to pastoral ministry. God used all the circumstances of their lives--the good times, the bad times, and all the in-between times—to transform their hearts, to refine their character, and to train them for what lay ahead as a pastoral couple.

During the years of waiting, Kathy raised three sons, Lorenzo, Andrew, and Douglas. They are now grown and married to wonderful Christian women. Each one serves the Lord both in their chosen professions and in their churches. Four precious grandchildren add to their joy.

Kathy’s desire to pursue her pastoral call never waivered, but because of many personal and professional obstacles, it seemed like an impossible dream! Then, in God’s perfect timing, God miraculously opened the door for her attend Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary (now Palmer Theological Seminary). No one was more surprised than Loren who was then working in the financial industry. Four years of seminary gave Loren time to adjust and to decide that he would retire early so that Kathy would be able to pursue her pastoral call.

Upon graduation, Kathy was called by Cross Road Baptist Church (formerly Mackey Memorial Baptist Church) in Bangor, PA. During her tenure at Cross Road, God brought healing to a small, struggling congregation, restored their hope for a future, and gave them a renewed vision for revival and mission. The now-growing church is reaching out in Bangor and making a difference in their community.

Before Kathy was ordained, she and Loren were both involved in almost every aspect of church life. At one time or another, Kathy has chaired the Boards of Deaconesses and Christian Education, and served as Church Clerk. She also volunteered in the nursery, cleaned the kitchen, developed children’s education programs, worked with youth, taught children and adults, counseled abused women, facilitated prayer groups, led retreats, coordinated a major evangelistic outreach event, and hosted healing services. During that time, she gained a vision for the significant role the local church plays in God’s Kingdom as well as the difficulties it faces in our modern culture.

Kathy’s lifelong ministry has been characterized by helping others discover how to experience God in a deep, personal way, how to hear God’s voice for themselves, and how to order their lives according to God’s ways and purposes. She believes that growing believers who are excited about their faith, who are equipped to share the gospel, and who are empowered to minister will be eager to share the good news about God’s kingdom and God will use them to make a difference!

To enable each woman and girl to travel God’s path of service and love as His purpose is fulfilled in their lives.

Weekend Highlights:

A Walk Down Memory Lane
Women are invited to purchase “footprints” in honor of or in memory of individuals or families. Text and/or photos can be mailed or emailed ahead of time. Footprints will also be available for purchase at Conference. Proceeds benefit National Support.

On-Site Mission Service
Women will be able, if they choose, to spend their Saturday afternoon workshop time doing hands-on mission work in the Lewisburg community. (nursing home, food bank, woman’s shelter, etc. Locations to be determined.)

Grab your passport and travel around the world to visit our seven adopted missionary families! Learn about their ministry and the culture they live in.

Thanks to all who attended, participated in, led at, and prayed for Conference 2009! We had an awesome weekend at Bucknell University! I'll make several posts with photos and information from different aspects of the weekend, but here's some general information from the weekend:

We raised $760 for National Support during the Silent Auction.

One week from today, I'll be heading to Bucknell University to start setting up for the 2009 American Baptist Women's Ministries of PA & DE Annual Conference. I'm starting this blog now so that I can upload photos and other information from the weekend as soon as I get home. Can't believe it's almost here! Very exciting!
